The Chado Urasenke Tankokai Sydney Association invites you to come and enjoy two different settings of traditional Japanese tea ceremony with them in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Tickets are $20 for two servings of tea and traditional sweets.

Sessions are 45 minutes long, and start at
11:00am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 2:00pm and 2:45pm.

Chado demonstration for Tea Festival

We performed chado for the Sydney Tea Festival. The Sydney Tea Festival aims to help people experience specialty teas, grow a passion for tea, and showcase quality specialty tea providers. This is the 5th year of the festival, but the first time showing the Japanese tea ceremony. Mista Matcha provided matcha for demonstration.

Japan Culture Night at Sapporo Restaurant
On 28 April, we performed chado demonstration for Rotary International Club, Chatswood. An audience of 50 packed a restaurant.
Before starting temae, Julian McVittie gave a brief history of Chado, the Urasenke School and utensils. Masako Toriyama performed Misono-dana temae beautifully. Hanto, Itoko Inoue served tea to Mr. Douglas Shen, the Director of General of Taiwan and Mr. Katsutoshi Miyakawa, the deputy Consul-General of Japan. Ryoko Freeman showed two guests how to drink tea. Two guests had matcha in the right manner.

- Now, 7 November 2014, we have FB-page – Urasenke Sydney
- On Sunday, October 12, we had our Spring Annual Chakai at The Maiden Theatre in The Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens.
The Honseki was set in The Moore Room adjacent to The Maiden Theatre. Four and a half Tatami mats were laid and Toko-no-ma was created with Shoji screens and a Australian natural timber board. Shin-Daisu was chosen for this years Honseki setting.
